“After the War was Over” AICC(WA) Presents this Geo Political Special Thursday 9th June (3pm-4pm)
The AICC(WA) presents this special webinar briefing by former Israel Ambassador to Australia Mr Mark Sofer, sharing perspectives on the longer-term the economic and geopolitical ramifications of the current Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Over the past decade Israel has preserved a delicate but functional diplomatic balance, carefully preserving concurrent trade and security relationships with the USA, Russia and China. Morally compelled to condemn Russia at the UN, but also reliant on Russian influence to curtail existential security threats from Syrian and Iranian proxy agents on its northern border, and further complemented by Chinese investment into Israeli ports and transit infrastructure, Israel’s unique geographic and economic status is now at a critical crossroad.
From a global perspective, the unknown impact of this conflict may linger for decades to come and reshape future trade alliances, energy and fuel markets, supply chain security, local manufacturing and production, and the financial markets.
The AICC(WA) has invited Mr Sofer, a career diplomat and veteran of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to share some insights on these important matters, and what they potentially mean for Israel, Australia, and the longer-term relationship between our two small and self-sufficient economies. This complimentary webinar will be moderated by His Excellency Malcolm McCusker AO CVO QC, former Governor of Western Australia.
