In partnership with the Forrest Research Foundation and the Australian Friends of The Hebrew University, AICC(WA) hosted Professor Gila Kahila Bar-Gal for a lunch seminar on “The Power of DNA Science in Biodiversity Conservation and Ancient DNA.” Professor Bar-Gal explored the biodiversity crisis, the role of wildlife forensics in combating illegal hunting and trade, the contribution of ancient DNA to conserving endangered and extinct species, the domestication of animals and plants, the transmission of zoonotic diseases, and the revival of a phytopathogenic fungus and its implications for sustainable agriculture. Her research spans veterinary medicine, archaeology and paleontology, focusing on molecular evolution, conservation genetics and wildlife forensics.
